Our Services
Fixed Bus Routes
STARS operates a network of fixed-route buses that travel on scheduled loops throughout Saginaw and surrounding areas. Buses generally depart from the central plaza every 60 minutes, with service Monday–Friday 6AM-8PM and on Saturdays 8AM-6PM. Each route follows the same set path and stops at marked bus stop signs where passengers can board or get off. This service is ideal for daily trips to work, school, shopping, and other local destinations. Riders pay a fare when boarding (exact change required) or can purchase 30-day passes for unlimited rides. Rides can be planned with the transit option of Google Maps, and STARS also offers route planning help through Customer Service if needed.

STARS Lift (Paratransit)
STARS Lift is a door-to-door paratransit service for people who are unable to use the regular fixed-route buses, primarily those 60 years and older and individuals with disabilities who have approved Gold Card status. Lift service must be scheduled in advance by appointment, and drivers will pick you up at your home and take you to your destination. The service operates within a defined service area near the fixed‐route corridors and during similar hours as the bus system. Riders pay a set fare for each trip and should call to schedule rides ahead of time; options vary depending on eligibility and how far in advance you book.

Rides to Wellness
Rides to Wellness is STARS' county-wide transportation program for residents who need reliable rides for non-emergency purposes. While this service started with a focus on medical appointments, it’s also available for other needs like grocery shopping, social visits, and daily errands. You can ride through a partner organization (which may cover the cost) or self-pay for trips if you’re not connected with a partner. Scheduling is flexible (phone, email, fax, or partner networks), and the service operates Monday–Saturday across Saginaw County and surrounding counties. Trips are typically first-come, first-served, and there are options for recurring appointments.
