When winter weather hits, a little preparation goes a long way toward keeping everyone safe. To help ensure smooth, safe transportation during snowy and icy conditions, STARS Rides to Wellness asks riders to follow the guidelines below before their scheduled ride.
Clear Paths Before Your Ride
If more than 2 inches of snow has fallen, please make sure your driveway and sidewalks are cleared before your vehicle arrives. Snow and ice can make walking to and from the vehicle hazardous for both passengers and drivers.
Why This Matters
Icy or snow-covered walkways increase the risk of slips and falls. Clear paths help:
- Protect your safety when entering and exiting the vehicle
- Keep drivers safe while assisting passengers
- Prevent delays or disruptions to scheduled rides
Plan Ahead for Help
If you’re unable to clear snow or ice yourself, please arrange for someone to help you ahead of time. Planning in advance helps avoid last‑minute cancellations or delays.
Need to Cancel Due to Weather?
If your driveway or sidewalk isn’t cleared in time, you may cancel your ride at no charge due to bad weather.
When Conditions Are Unsafe
In cases where snow or ice conditions are too dangerous, Rides to Wellness staff may need to reschedule your transportation to ensure everyone’s safety.
Stay Safe This Winter
Winter weather can be unpredictable, but a few simple steps can make your ride safer and more reliable. Thank you for helping us keep our passengers and drivers safe throughout the season.
